Infrastructure Enhancements

Works to widen the M1 between Junctions 6A and 10, a 10-mile section of road stretching from the M25 through to Luton, are now complete. The Government has also announced that four lanes will also be provided on the M1 between junctions 10 and 13 in each direction.

The East Luton Corridor (South) is due to be open in early Summer 2009. It will provide a new access spur into London Luton Airport by improving the road from Junction 10a of the M1.

The Luton & Dunstable busway (LDB) has recently received £84 million government funding. The 7.5-mile guided bus way will reduce journey times throughout the local area and improve transport connections to existing and proposed key employment sites in the South and East of the town. To be completed by 2011.
